Baby Rocket Unplugged is the original #VelvetRock acoustic duo from Madison WI, and also performs as a 4 piece band known as “Baby Rocket”.
What is your band like? Like the SiriusXM station named “The Spectrum”, we play a spectrum of music, where classic rock meets new rock. We don’t play hard rock, we don’t play soft rock, we play what we coined as #VelvetRock!
What kind of music do you play? In fact, we only play fun, popular, upbeat and danceable songs, from the 1960’s through the 1990s as well as contemporary originals. Our target audience is everyone! We appeal to a wide range of people.
What sets you apart from other acoustic duos within your genre? We are fans of music and go see other bands all of the time. We have learned to make it fun for the people who are there to see us. We play at a comfortable volume so you can talk to each other without shouting, yet still feel the groove and dance, drink, spend a lot of money and have a great time!
Where have you played? In September of 2019, we played at the American Heart Association Hard Hats with Hearts event at Breese Stevens field in Madison WI. We play numerous events for the Madison Social Downtowners club and play many shows at the Nau-Ti-Gal in Madison WI. We played at Luckys on Lake Wisconsin and had a fun dancing crowd! We have shows booked in 2020 at Fisher King Winery in Verona, WI and at Brix 340 Wine Bar in Waunakee, WI.
Who is in the band? Bandleader Clay Rehm belts out popular hits while jamming on the acoustic guitar and Melissa Kieler isn’t far behind with smashing backing vocals, slapping and getting your toe-tapping on the acoustic bass!
When did the duo start? Our first gig was on April 16, 2007 at the Cheeseburger in Paradise in Middleton WI.
